Corn Snake/red Rat Snake

Elaphe Guttata Guttata
These snakes are native to the southeastern United States where they inhabit woodlands, meadows, and even barns.
They reach a length of 5-6 feet and have large red blotches down their back over a brown to tan ground color.
They are appreciated by many farmers because they help control rodent populations.
This species is fairly common and the biggest threats are collection for the pet trade and being killed as they are sometimes mistaken as copperhead snakes.
