Emerald Tree Boa

Corallus Caninus
This beautiful snake is vibrant green with white dorsal markings along its back.
Emerald tree boas inhabit wet lowland rainforests of most of tropical South America particularly Suriname and Brazil.
They have dozens of heat receptor pits along the top of their mouth used to detect any prey that is emitting infrared heat.
Being totally arboreal, they are never encountered on the ground and they feed primarily on birds and small tree-dwelling mammals.
