Dr. Zeitlin has served as the Palm Beach Zoo's veterinarian for almost 30 years. He is also the past Executive Director of the Palm Beach Zoo and an ex-officio member and past Chairman of the Zoological Society of the Palm Beaches' Board. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Palm Beach County Cultural Council and co-chaired their Children's Committee.
Dr. Zeitlin's memberships and professional affiliations include the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Dr. Zeitlin was awarded his B.S. from Columbia University (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1970 and his DVM with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974. He has papers published in Experientia and the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Zeitlin is the past Medical Director VCA Lake Worth Animal Hospital, past Chief of Surgery at the Lake Worth Animal Hospital, past Executive Director and owner of Palm Beach County Animal Medical Clinic, and is the Owner and Medical Director of South Dixie Animal Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is also the southeast representative for the Veterinary Protocol Committee and Consulting Veterinarian for the 10th Life Cat Sanctuary and the Doberman Rescue League. He was profiled by the Palm Beach Post in July 2002 and is the recipient of the Research Society Sigma Xi's Award for academic research. In 1989 he received the Palm Beach County Animal Kindness Award from Palm Beach County.
